I just got an e-mail from a colleague in Germany about ElevatorArchitect. It looks like an interesting tool that helps building designers select and layout elevators in a building.
I like the UI integration and how the application's dialog keeps the Revit ribbon paradigm. Also they have done a good job with a consistent icon design between the Revit add-in and the product.
When I first looked at it I wondered why the user was required to press the Refresh button in Revit when a change was made. I fired off an e-mail to the CEO and he explained that they made that design choice to minimize performance impact on the user. If they had automatic Refresh and hooked into Revit Updaters and Events they were worried about the performance impact when the user needed to wait for the automatic Refresh on large projects. Sounds like a fair design decision. I hope to have a little bit of time to play with it myself.
Check it out and tell me what you think.
