About the Author

My name is Emile Kfouri. I have a very eclectic background. I have studied in Iran, Lebanon, UK, Switzerland and the US. If you want the gory details you can find them below. The short story is that when my friends were playing video games as teenagers I was writing programs. I decided to study structural engineering because I thought the John Hancock building in Chicago was the coolest thing ever (and no that did not inspire me to become an architect - even though there is nothing wrong with architects that I know of). I think programs with APIs have limitless potential because you can make them do anything you want even if the developer did not intend it. How about a MMO game based on Green Building Studio or Revit? One last thing you may be interested in ... After my family and work, Photography and F1 Car racing are the most important things to me. I have been into photography since I was about 5 or 6 and I have missed about 10 F1 races since 1983

The Gory details:
My undergraduate work is in Civil Engineering and my graduate degree is in High-rise Structural Analysis and Design. I started working as a draftsman in collage to make some extra money and I have been programming computers since I was 14 and making money building software since I was 18.

My work experience includes being a draftsman on AutoCAD, a Structural Engineer at HOK, a developer at Computers and Structures and a Senior Developer/Architect and Product Manager at RAM International before joining Autodesk in 2005.

At Autodesk I have bounced around quite a bit from Revit Structure Product Design to Revit API and Revit Platform Product Manager then finally to the AEC Platform Line Manager before moving to the BIM development organization where I was the BIM Platform (Software) Architecture Development Manager and currently I am the BIM Application Development Manager. The managers that work with me are responsible for Revit API :), Revit Architecture, Revit Structure, Revit MEP, AutoCAD Structural Detailing and Robot Structural Analysis.
